Here is a youth video I am in... https://beta.lds.org/youth/mormon-messages/video/a-priesthood-duty?locale=eng

Leah is on page 9 of the February 2011 Ensign and in the new priesthood youth video. Here are a few photos they didn't use.

I Love These People

Yesterday we taught Young Women's and our Karenni Sunday School class that we teach every week. So we had a pretty busy day! For Young Women's we taught about goal making and in our Karenni class we talked about the gift of the Holy Ghost (we teach out of Preach My Gospel). For our Karenni class previously we were having to go from English to Burmese to Karenni. Which mean something that would usually take 15 minutes to teach takes us 30 minutes or more. Luckily lately there have been 2 men that have been coming on and off that have good enough English to translate directly to Karenni. In Relief Society they have to translate into 4 languages (English to Karen, English to Burmese to Karenni)! I love this branch.

Baptism in a blizzard.

Yesterday as you know there were some big storms going on. We just kept hearing throughout the day how bad it was going to be and everyone kept calling us and asking if the baptism was still happening (including our high councilman who fills the font making sure we were really positive the baptism was still happening). Our branch president and his wife said of course we were still having it and not to worry. We asked President Naylor (the branch president) if we could ride along with him in their 15 passenger van. One service missionary called and said "sisters we know you have faith...but I'm sorry - we don't so we won't be there!" It was a pretty funny day. We just kept praying that everything would work out. To make matters a little worse Sister Winn text all the sisters in the mission telling us she wanted us to cancel all appointments after 6pm and stay in for the rest of the night. Our baptism was set to start at 7! So we called Sister Winn and she said to of course go ahead with the baptism.

So to make a long story a little shorter, everything worked out! The weather was bad, but we didn't have to drive in it! Also we are now the best friends of 8 little girls under the age of 9. After the baptism we played tag (all sorts of variations) with Layka Baw's 4 girls and Chan Nu Noo's 4 girls for about half an hour or so. Now they think we are the bees knees.

What a fun mission....presidents wife!

When we were with all the sisters this morning a few of us got talking about the turkey bowls that will be going on tomorrow and how all the elders will get to play and we won't. I said "why don't we have one of our own with all the sisters in the valley?" So I talked to Sister Winn and she thought it was great idea. Sister Anderson and I are planning everything (building or outside? time etc) and then Sister Winn will send a message out to all the sisters. We are really excited! The elders play sports/ games every week and a lot of the sisters choose to play but I usually opt out because everyone gets so competitive and mad all the time that it's really annoying. It will be so fun to play with just the sisters!
